During these two years he read books and listened to programs on a radio.

Early Years: Various Research, Thanks again Caitlin.

Spent his junior year in Paris. On Janurary 15 the year of 1957 Alan Alda got married to Arlene Weiss who was a musician. Becoming Well Known: Mostly made me with a pinch of Caitlin's help

In the late 60's Alan Alda played in movies such as Paper Lion, Jenny, and The Mephisto Waltz.

In 1972 the CBS- Television series of the hit movie M*A*S*H was looking for rolls. Seven hours before shooting Alan Alda signed a contract to play the leading roll of Benjamin Franklin Hawkeye Pierce, a surgeon for Crabapple Cove, Maine. He stayed with M*A*S*H for eleven year, beginning to end. America fell in love with this lovable actor. He was winning awards, let alone for his written and directed episodes. Such as Dear Sigmund. Alan Alda didn't uproot his family to California, yet, his family lived in New Jersey where he often visited them. As he grew in his role, he spent a lot of time with the other actors of M*A*S*H. They became truly close to each other. They were truly a family in itself. As I learned that in cold mornings before shooting they would huttle together. M*A*S*H is probably what it was and still is today one of the best sitcoms to watch, in Alan's contract he specifically wanted in there an operating scene in the O.R. when surgery was taking place.

While doing M*A*S*H he did other rolls in movies, such as these are Same Time, Next Year, California Suite, The Seduction of Joe Tynan.

Alan Alda's truly dedicated fans loved him for much, much more then just his acting abilities. One, he adore his wife and family. A truly a man everyone looks for. Two, he was a fervent feminist advocate, he often talked about this and used to popularity to approve the Equal Right's Amendment.

On Feburary 28, 1983, the eleventh season. Alan Alda and many others work on the emotional final episode of M*A*S*H. The title was "Goodbye, Farewell, and Amen" where during the end of the war the passion and the horrible problems the characters interface at the end of war. Which, some of these are Hawkeye Pierce having a break down, Father Mulchay loosing his hearing, and BJ not being able to say 'good-bye' to Hawkeye. This final episode pulled in 125.5 million veiwers. This still holds the record of the most veiwers of a finale.

Afterward and now: Me, woot!

Alan Alda has been in many movies. Some which he made himself. He has been in broadway. You might even had seen him on other various TV shows as in ER and coming October 20, 2004 The West Wing. Today he has a science show, Scientific American Fronteirs, that can be seen on www.pbs.org and showed throughout the school systems. Mr. Alda today has touched us as more than an actor. He has many more qualities then the eye can see. People like me and you have the eye of seeing this truly glorious man! I have to say that you, Mr.Alda, have taught me that dreams can be achieved on bumpy roads and horrible weather, but can still be true! I hope your continuos acomplishments still touch the younger generation in knowing what a real idol is! What a real, kind, gentle person you are!
